Governor-Elect Whitmer Champions Michigan Priorities During Visit to White House
On Thursday, December 13, 2018, Governor-elect Gretchen Whitmer joined a bipartisan group of governors-elect in a meeting at the White House, advocating for issues critical to Michigan residents and demonstrating a commitment to working with anyone who wants to help move Michigan forward.
“It is critical that Michigan has a strong relationship with our federal government to ensure we are getting the most out of the tax dollars we send to Washington D.C.,” said Whitmer. “Today’s visit was an opportunity to make sure Michigan has a voice at the table and find common ground on the issues that will be most important to our state moving forward, including federal trade policies, access to affordable health care, protecting our Great Lakes and advancing critical infrastructure improvements.”
The Governor-elect also met with Michigan’s congressional delegation and Senators Stabenow and Peters while in Washington, reiterating her interest in working together on issues that impact and improve the lives of Michigan residents.
